Hello, and thank you for your interest in Cosmic Coterie!
We’re a team of five experienced seamstresses and cosplayers that met through our love of Sailor Moon. We work together to create costumes from series we love, with a special focus on giving back to the cosplay community. We have created numerous patterns and blog posts for our fellow cosplayers to use, and our most well-known resource is our full Sailor Moon Fuku tutorial. Our team was established in 2016.
Our members come from all walks of life – we comprise several ethnicities, sexual orientations, and fields of study. We have a cohesive and organized team and work together to make our team and our beloved cosplay community the best we can. We provide many resources to cosplayers for free, and are always answering cosplayers’ questions and sharing information on our social media accounts. Our members also devote their time to charity, and often participate in Extra Life to raise funds for Children’s Miracle Network hospitals. All our members are above the age of 25.
Together we have nearly 50 years of sewing experience, and the majority of our individual members have been sewing and costuming for at least a decade. Our members are not limited to just sewing, however – we’re a well-rounded team and can style wigs, build armor and props, work with technology such as CAD software for 3D printing, and paint, amongst several other skills. Our individual members have won numerous awards, including several Best In Show awards. Many have moved on to being cosplay contest judges and now have years of judging experience. Together we have a plethora of sewing and costuming knowledge, as well as keen insight into how cosplay contests work and how to judge them fairly.
We’ve also hosted panels at many different conventions throughout Texas. We have a couple ready-to-go panels that our group members have improved over several years, and we are always seeking reasons to create new ones. We have a lot of knowledge to share with convention audiences, and are always excited to do so!
We are also available to table at conventions between panels and cosplay judging tasks.
Conventions we have hosted panels at or guested at:
- Nomikai Dallas
- Wizard World Austin
- Anime Austin
Besides convention offerings, we are always open to considering a team-up with small businesses and companies that would like to reach an audience of cosplayers. Our Instagram account has 9600 followers and counting, and our tutorials have influenced a great deal of the Sailor Moon cosplay community. We are especially interested in trying out products such as fabrics, sewing supplies, patterns, wigs, and other cosplay-related items. We regularly credit the source of items we cannot make ourselves, bringing company names into household cosplay lingo.
Companies and small businesses we have worked with:
Finally, we are always open to interviews, magazine features, and other media-related endeavors. We would be happy to work with you and provide a media package and/or print-approved photos from our photographers.
